Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead

I wasn't thrilled with the ending of Blood Promise, the fourth book in the Vampire Academy series, and I was worried that Spirit Bound would be have a lot of the same plot.

I was so wrong. Spirit Bound was the best installment yet. And with this cliffhanger ending, I can't wait for book six.

Dimitri gave Rose the ultimate choice. But she chose wrong...

After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri's birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir's-and to her best friend, Lissa. It is nearly graduation, and the girls can't wait for their real lives beyond the Academy's iron gates to begin. But Rose's heart still aches for Dimitri, and she knows he's out there, somewhere.

She failed to kill him when she had the chance. And now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and now he is hunting her. And this time he won't rest until Rose joins him... forever.

Shana Silver said...: I still think nothing will ever surpass the heartbreaking cliffhanger at the end of SHADOW KISS, though SPIRIT BOUND comes close. Even though BLOOD PROMISE brought the characters right back to where they started at the beginning of the novel, I still enjoyed the ride and I loved seeing evil Dimitri. I actually didn't like seeing weak Dimitri but he made up for it in the cafe scene! I'm so eager for book 6!; July 1, 2010 at 3:42 PM

Marjorie said...: I am surprised all the writers of YA vampire themed books do not attend the Dark Shadows Festivals. I have been going since 1981! Barnabas (Jonathan Frid) attends, and in the early 90s Joan Bennett also was there many times.

Five Random Things About Suzie

1. I drink so much orange soda, it's probably running through my veins. I've been known to go through a twelve pack of diet sunkist in a day.

2. I'm legitimately nocturnal (or a vampire). I will be so exhausted at two pm that I'm falling asleep standing up - it has happened before, at Six Flags no less - but as soon as the sun goes down I'm wide awake.

3. I have a gorgeous unused $6000 Reem Acra wedding dress hanging in my closet, and it showed up on my doorstep the same day my (now ex) fiance broke up with me. And thank God for that. I wouldn't have wanted to waste that dress on him.

4. Social anxiety plagues me daily. I write a script and practice in front of the mirror when I have to make a phone call, but most people who interact with me have no idea how nervous I am (or perhaps they lie) because I've worked so hard to try to overcome it.

5. I'm actually worried that I will never love my children (when I do have them in the far off future) as much as I love my dogs. I just like animals better than people - they're sweet and innocent and soft and furry - is that so wrong?
